Memory card guide
We hire SDXC and SD memory cards to productions across the UK — from fast UHS-II V90 cards for 4K cinema cameras to everyday SD stock, backed by over 20 years supplying camera media to the broadcast industry.
SDXC (SD eXtended Capacity) is the high-capacity version of the familiar SD card, covering sizes from 64GB up to 2TB. For video work, what matters most is the speed class: cards rated UHS-II V90 sustain the write speeds that 4K and high-bitrate recording demands, while slower cards are fine for stills and lighter formats.
SD slots are everywhere — many Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Sony and Blackmagic cameras record to SDXC alongside their main media. Cameras with dual card slots often pair CFexpress with an SDXC overflow or backup slot. If you tell us your camera, we'll confirm the right card and capacity before you hire.
SDXC cards trade some speed for convenience and cost — perfect as backup media, for proxies and lower-bitrate formats, and for cameras where SD is the only slot. When you need maximum sustained write speeds for RAW or high-frame-rate work, CFexpress Type A, CFexpress Type B or XQD is the better fit. Many productions hire both and cover all their slots.
Call or email with your camera, shoot dates and how much recording time you need. We'll recommend the right capacity and quantity, send a quote, and ship the cards to you. Card readers are available on request.
