ARRI Codex Compact Drive hire

The Codex Compact Drive is ARRI's professional recording media, built to capture the huge data rates of ARRI's large-format cinema cameras. It records in ARRI's own camera-native format through a high-speed PCIe interface, giving reliable takes at high frame rates and resolutions without dropped frames — exactly what you need when a day of ALEXA footage is on the line. The 2TB model offers 1920 GB of usable capacity and the 1TB model offers 960 GB.

Codex Compact Drives are the native media for the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF. If you're shooting on a different ARRI body or an undock/dock workflow, tell us the camera and recording format when you enquire and we'll confirm the right media and quantity before you hire — we'd rather check than guess on a cinema shoot.

ARRI's uncompressed and compressed recording formats eat storage quickly, so it's worth planning capacity against your shooting ratio. As a rule of thumb, a 1TB drive covers a solid day of recording on the ALEXA Mini LF, while a 2TB drive keeps you rolling on longer days or higher frame rates. Many productions hire a mix of both so they never have to stop for a card change. Tell us your camera, format and shoot dates and we'll size the kit with you.

Call or email with your camera, shoot dates and how much recording you need. We'll recommend the right capacity and quantity, send a quote, and ship the drives to you. Codex Compact Drive readers and docks are available on request, and long-term hires qualify for a discount.
